Abstract: Human fascination for symmetries in crystals and honeycombs gave rise to the study of tilings. Tilings have also been used throughout human history for both practical and decorative purposes. In this talk, we will discuss the mathematical theory behind tilings of spaces and some recent results about affine tilings.
