Abstract: If a system \({f(x − λ), λ ∈ Λ}\) of translates of a function f on \(R\) forms a partition of unity, then we say that \(f + Λ\) is a tiling. Which functions f can tile by translations, and what can be said about the structure of the tiling? I will survey the subject and present our results obtained in joint work with Mihalis Kolountzakis.
