Abstract: We consider networks of nonlinear strings and beams coupled via masses and springs. The modeling leads to hyperbolic balance laws with nonlocal boundary conditions. We address the problem of well-posedeness in the sense of Tatsien Li and report on controllability as well as stabilizability results.
