Abstract: The BV space (the space of bounded variation functions) is the classical space to study the regularity of entropy solutions of hyperbolic conservation laws in the one-dimensional case. For certain equations, entropy solutions cannot belong to BV, thus, the fractional BVs, 0 < s \< 1 spaces are used. Some results of regularizing effects in BVs will be presented in this talk. In addition, we present the existence of global entropy solutions of a class of triangular systems in BV s, s >/ 1/3. In both cases, the optimality of the choice of s is proven.
