Abstract: The Mach number is a non-dimensional parameter that characterize the behavior of compressible flows.  When this parameter goes to zero, one can identify two possible asymptotic limits of compressible flows occuring on very different time scales and described by very different PDE types : the incompresible and acoustic limit. This talk will discuss these limits and their interactions, first in the inviscid case and then in the viscous case where new phenomena with respect to the inviscid case can appear.
