Title: Hyperbolic Dynamics, Anosov Flows and Their Intaraction with Large Scale Geometry

Abstract: A dynamical system is called hyperbolic if, loosely speaking, it expands in one direction and contracts in a complementary direction. Anosov flows were introduced in 1960s and they play a key role in the study of hyperbolic dynamics because of their robustness and ergodic behavior. Secondly, there are examples of Anosov flows which nicely interacts with geometry of the underlying space (mostly manifolds). In this series of talks we will explore the basics of Anosov flows using geometric ideas. No prior knowledge is assumed.
