Abstract:  This talk is concerned with an optimal control problem and the description of the reachable set by initial data control of scalar conservation law with discontinuous flux, where the flux has single point of discontinuity.  Regarding the optimal control problem we first prove the existence of a minimizer and then we prescribe a backward algorithm to compute this.  The same method also then applies to compute the initial data control.  This method works due to the non existence of rarefaction from the interface.

This is a joint work with Adimurthi and P. Marcati.
