Title: Computability in dynamics
Abstract: I will provide an introduction to computability theory in the context of groups acting on compact zero-dimensional spaces by homeomorphisms. I will show how algorithmic properties of the group interact in a rich manner with geometric invariants such as amenability or the number of ends of a group.
Speaker Bio: Sebastian Barbieri Lemp is a faculty member in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the Universidad de Santiago de Chile. His research spans dynamical systems and ergodic theory, with a particular focus on symbolic dynamics, group theory, and computability.
