Title: Equivariant random walks in groups and bottom of the \(L^2\)-spectrum in manifolds of negative curvature

Abstract: I will talk about the potential theory and boundary theory of random walks in discrete groups acting in manifolds of negative curvature. I will discuss which aspects of the potential theory of the manifold is captured by such a group and which aspects are not. The first part of the talk will cover some of the required geometric and potential theoretic notions. In the second part of the talk I will discuss some results and ideas of the proofs
