Abstract: A partition is a certain two-dimensional arrangement of boxes. A plane partition (despite its name) is a three-dimensional generalization of this
concept. Cylindric partitions are plane partitions with a certain periodicity built in. In this informal talk, I will introduce these objects, and briefly mention where they appear in my research.

Please Note:  The lecture will start in the ground floor auditorium and then move (to lecture hall, LH-112) depending on other classes.
