Abstract:
A Lie group is said to be exponential if every element of it is contained in a one-parameter subgroup, or equivalently if the exponential map is surjective. In this talk we begin with a short survey of known results on the question of exponentiality of Lie groups, focusing for a large part on matrix Lie groups and specific examples. We conclude with some new results concerning exponential Lie groups, and some open questions.
